And all for health... In our health office, we have quite a few important people. We have Mrs. Gladys Bushgens, our Health Co-ordi- nator, who serves us every day. Then there's Dr. Kingsley, the boys' doctor, who checks the boys twice a month. Dr. Burns, the girls' doctor, visits us every two weeks. In 1948 it was reorganized, and, it is now one of the top PTA's in the city. The P. T. A. organization is a very good thing to have. In this way the teachers can discuss how good their children are getting along in school. Of course a P. T. A. serves a lot of other purposes. Thie year the membership reached a grand total of N43 members. The P- T--L Save Certificates for membershins this last camnaizn. Frank Sabbath got a certificate fo1 turning in the most members for the boys. He turned in a grand total of 15. This boy is in homeroom 205 A. Delia Moreno who turned in 8 members, got a certificate, too. She is in homeroom 120. The P- T- A- Presented some fine picnic benches for our Bar-B-Q, court recently. The officers are Mrs. Mable V. Gray, President: Mrs. Insta Almo, Vice President: Mrs. Helen Zamora, Program Chairman: Mrs. Julia Collins, Mrs. Nessie Solomon, Recording Secretary: and Treasurer. Financial Secretaryg Mrs. Lupe Martinez, 29 cviifqigv 1: an mv Center Sponsors Lafayette Center has had a large increase in at- tendance this semester. A great deal of it has been due to the keen interest of the older club members making the newcomers aware of what is carried on in the after-school activities. Lafayette Center is a member of the Los Angeles Youth Project, and there are more than 50 activities for children and adults in the community. Recreation leaders from many social agencies join with our tea- chers in snonsoring these activities. The nrogram is under Mr. Kanlan's direction. Lafayette Center is becoming well known for its clubs, toy loan, canteen, movies, snorts, and tele- vision. We are very grateful to the Los Angeles Rotary Club for presenting us with one of the largest tele- vision sets in the United States. Some of the highlights of the W'5O semester were the big Halloween and Christmas Canteen narties, the Armistice Holiday camning trio to Clear Creek, the Football Trophy dance, and the great number of club ,parties at the new Barbecue nit which was donated by the Sigma Theta Pi sorority. 30 13 K iii, ,, VIITIIGAPOIM Ou eq ng- ewan. -aw hu Q m-was -ua: um- pwwnxng ma :ending um 1.--on unxma nm Af n mmm 1 pn-.ng gnu, In me mm in . pu- can vu m-ml, non-ua.. 1-.unch mn eu. -pun vu anmna m mix- nm gn.-a mx um: and -.mm-.4 Am x in horror Ju-wa un ma .mm-4.
