Officers Seated: Gary Grant-Vice President, Charles Coates-President. Standing: Joe Hall-Sentiel, Sam McClure- Treasurer, Jerry Bridges-Secretary. The LaFayette Chapter of Future Farmers of America received a new advisor, James Burns, during the summer after N. C. Holthaus was promoted to extension work. The chapter money-making projects in- cluded the gun raffle, scrap drive, and a seven-acre oats project. Community service projects were selling rat poison and fire extinguishers, the pest hunt, and a farm safety campaign. Social activities consisted of a summer party, a Halloween party, and a Christmas party. The highlight of the year was a chapter trip to Chicago and to the International Live- stock Show. The trip was very educational and the boys enjoyed themselves. Awards won by the chapter and its members during the year were one state farmer, two gold awards in the public speaking contest, two gold awards in parlimentary procedure contest, and first place in the state sheep and wool judging contest.
