Club of 1956-1957 started its year with the installation of new officers at its annual spring banquet. Early in October, the joyous Freshmen were neatly initiated by the Seniors. Points were earned this year, as every year, tby participating in gym classes, attending activities, serving on committees, and by participating in the inter- mural sports competition that took pace each noon. Because of the small group participating in the intermural games this year, it was decided that there should be a double elimination play. Alan Joseph and Charles Coates acted as our referees. Dues of 501: per member were paid at the beginning of the new club yearg however, dances and various other activities were sponsored to raise money. The purpose of our club is -- TO PROMOTE BETTER SPORTMANSHIP. Girls' Glee has long been the outstanding activity open to all the girls in the high school. This year 76 girls came down and 65 finished. We sang The Snow Legend , by Clokey, and In The Boat , by Grieg for C0ntGSf numbers, plus a Warm up number which was an added feature for our club. We feel that the discipline and the inspira- tion that we have received from our music is something that will live in our hearts always. as IQUW l. la-roy In-.u-mg, Klarl Slat-pli--1-cl, 1.4-roy Bad:-rtsche-r, Larry Schafer, Sam Hefner, John Williams, K1-nnyGosSm:1n, M:-rvrlith Y-Q-okam. It is a very wonderful thing to be able to work with such a large group of fellows under the able and inspirational leadership of Mr. Yoakam. We learn, as in no other school activity, the thrill of team work, the excitement of being a part of a whole, working together to produce a beautiful song both for our own satisfaction and for the pleasure of our audience. This year there were 52 boys that cslrne down to boys' glee. Our contest numbers are Holy Lord God , by Cain, and Rocka My Soul, by Reigger. 'N Ufficers lit-.ln ll.xll-lieporlvr .intl l,ilir.iri.ni. Snappy music, high stepping marchers, and flashing colors are just a few of the things that make LaFayette's High School Band outstanding. The band put on halftime shows for eight foot- was ball games, and several times the band put on a special pre- game show. With the able assistance of Mr. Burns, a former Ohio State marcher, Mr. Yoakam was able to introduce the new precision drill type march. This band season has been very successful, and one thatwe look back on with pride. The paper is published by the students of LaFayette in the interest of the student body. It consisted of grade news, music events, sports, book reviews, feature stories of importance, news of the differ- ent organizations, jokes, etc. Everyone enjoyed working on the school paper and did a good job. 1 Seated-Sandra Younkman, Mr. Cox, and Ron Snyder.
