' FOOTBALL NEWS Lafayette started its first year of football Csuccess- fully! by winning six of the eight games played. Our coach, Mr. Fellers, did a fine job of coaching us boys. When we started we didn't know too much about the game. The first practice was held on August 20 at 4 o'clock Kin the after- noon.J At this practice we learned some of the principles and rules which are used in the game of football. We prac- ticed day after day and learned several plays--all new ones to us. Our first Game was with Spencerville on the 15th of September. It was also the first game of football for Spen- cerville. In this same Treqlin made two touchdowns and one extra point. The next came took us to the Lima Stadium to play St. Rose. There was no score at the end of the first quarterbut lateron St. Rose scored on us. We played Waynes- field for the next gameg they also started football this year. The only score made in this game was a pass from Hall to Grady, while Bixel kicked the extra point. ln this game Roy Downard lost a tooth, but after the name several of us hunted for it and finally found it., On thc 8th of October we went to Shawnee. Treglia made three touchdowns while our Right Tackle, Kenneth Schick, played the whole game and did- n't know it. . The next fame was on a rainy day, when we went to Lima City Park to play Lima South reserves. Bill Hall made the touchdown that was scored in this game. Our first'home game was on the 18th of October, when Spencerville came over to seek revenge. Bill Hall says they got it because he was not able to play from the middle of the sewer? quarter bn. . .
