The county cisteddfod washeldApr1l 18, atEl1,da. Prof. Hadyn Morgan, Prof. Russell A. Lantz, and Mr. Herman Ostheimcr were adjudicators, and Hr, F. Marlon Cheney and Hr. Charles O. Guy were the conductors. We returned with eight first place ratings, four second place ratings, and one third, to- talling a winning score of 426 out of a possible 441. The following day we entered 13 numbers at the district contest at Bowling Green. The choruses also participated in the district contest at Bluffton, April 26. The students of the music department are very grateful to Mr. Doyt Yoakam whose efforts have made this a year never to be forgotten. We of the senior class are thankful that we shall have such pleasant memories and with many more such successful years to Mr. Yoakam and the music department of our school. BAND u This organization was founded in the spring of 1959. This year's membership totaled 54. Public appearances were made at basketball games and, for the first tlme, at foot ball games. Band members also participated in the county festival, which was held November 5, at Shawnee. The Joint officers elected for the band and the orchestra were as follows: President, Danny Reedg Secretary, Resales Emerickg Treasurer, Maxine McNettg and Reporter, Calvin Early. MIXED CHORUS Started 1n'l952, this organization holds the interest of many Students. Unhbemhhtp is open tt. all high school students interested ih this singtng. V This year'sofficers were: President, JamesBassett, Vice President, Lloyd Littlerg Secretary Danny Reed: Treasurer, JoAnne-Hefner, and Reporters, Joan Landes and Calvin Early. A Christmas Cantata,composmdof selectionsnfvnm several cantata books, was presented on December 20. Bolo and duet numbers were sung by Glenna Arnold,-Paul Arthur, Alice Jean Bassett, James Bassett, Joan Boyd, Calvin Early, Marilyn Early, Shirley Edwards, Richard Kersker,Dor1sK1racofe, Joan Landes, Lloyd Littler, Clcdith Long, Herbert McElwa1n, Betty North, Danny Reed, Stanley Reed, Betty Rund1o,Jeanne Sumney, Dick Whitmore, and Nolan Younkman. Every year the students in the Music Department partl- cipate in the annua1county'e1stcddfod. Competition was car- ried on the same as in previousyearswdth the exception that tries and quartets were changed to ensembles. - , The preliminary cisteddfod was held April 2, with Mr. W. C. Temple of Lima serving as adjudicator, and Mr. George Cox, as conductor. The winning octettc consisted of Joan Boyd, Shirley-Edwards, Betty North, Dorothy Sterling, Dick Whitmore, James Bassett, Lloyd Littlcr, and Calvin Early. The octette to enter the district contest consisted of Glenna Arnold, Shirley .Edwards, Doris Kiracofe, Betty North, James Bassett, Dick Whitmore, Calvin Early, and Lloyd Littler,
