GIRLS' GLEE Girls' Glee, which vvas organized in 1952, started this year off with seventyetwo girls turning out for our first practice. Th1snumber'was reduced to the thirty eligible for eisteddfod competition. The off1cerselected.for this year were: President, Joan Boydg VicePres1dent, Betty Rundiog Secretary,Gladys.A1dr1chg Treasurer, Jean Tilemingg Reporter, Joan Landesg and Librar- ians, Rosalie Emerick, Viola Gauss, Doris K1racefe,andJIanet Smith. Phyllis Lutz served as accompanist. , Every year, a number of our group enter trio wbrk. New elsteddfod rules changed this organization to work in triple tries. From this group, the following were chosen to enter the county eisteddfod where they took first placeg Glenna Arnold, Joan Boyd, Shirley Edwards, Alice Jean Bassett, Joe Anne Hefner, Joan Landes, Marilyn Early, Doris Kiracofe, and Betty North. At the district eisteddfod, this triple trio again secured a superior rating which entitled them to enter the state.oontest, May 17. Also, atthe preliminary eisteddfod, the following solo- ists were chosen: Joan Boyd, sopranog JoAnne' Hafner, mezzof sopranog and Betty North, alto, These girls received first, first, and second ratings, respectively in the county meet. At the district contest, JoAnne Hefner, Betty Rundio, Jeanne Sumney, Marilyn Early, and Joan Boyd entered solos. Joan Boyd received the superior rating. 'Holy Lord Godn and NRob1n In The Ra1n'u both by Noble Cain, were selected for Girls' Glee competition at the else teddfcd. Under the leadership of our competent director, Mr. Doyt Yoakam, we also secured another blue ribbon. ORCHESTRA The orchestra, organized in 1937, included 24 students this year. The only public appearance was made at a program given by the Dramatics Club, February l.
