FRESHMAN HISTORY The Freshman class started to school on September 5, 1946, with numerous fears of initiation on their minds. There were 57 boys and girls waiting to be initiated. Joe Skinner took charge as President with Mr, Packer as our home-room teacher. Roger Kelly was Vice-Presidentg Ron- ald Conaway, Secretary-Treasurerg and Alice Jean Bassett, Student Council Representative. Two class parties at the beginning of the year and a roller skating party on January 20 at the Lima Rink were our social events. We were proud of the Junior high basketball team this year for the fine work they did. There were tive Freshman boys on the senior high re- serve team. namely--Bob Harnishfeger, Ronald Conaway, Donald Stoodt, Ronald Baker, and Joe Skinner. There were B Freshman girls in Girls' Glee and 5 Fresh- man boys in Boys' Glee, while in Mixed Chorus there were 5 girls and 2 boys. Alice Jean Bassett was in Girls' Ensemble and Lyric Bolo and accompanied Mezzo and Tenor Solo and Mixed Ensemblh Glenna Arnold was in Girls' and Mixed Ensembles and Lyr1cfSo1o. Marilyn Early was in Girls' and Mixed Ensemble, and Alto Solo. Janet Smith was in Mezzo Solo. Three Freshman girls tried for piano solo in the Pre- liminary Eisteddfod. --Janet Smith

1 SOPHOIORE HISTORY The sophomores of Lafayette High School began Uv school year with an enrollment of 59. Since then we have ,lostg Charles Butler, Don Coffman, Rex Dad, Dick Ross, Morris Tho- mas, Mary Dawson, Marthr Fenshier, Anna Cullen, and we 'have gained two new students, Charles and Dorothy Dowler from Harrod. In the election which was held in September. Hugh Long was chosen President: Bob Swallow, Vice President, Levauda Sandy, Secretary-Treasurer, Kick Treglla, Student Council Representative, and Bud Reichelderfer, Reporter. Mrs. Ruth Mosher is our home room sponsor. We were all proud of our boys who took part in football last fall. We are especially yroud of Mick Treglia, Hugh Long, Roy Downard, and Stub Grady who received letters for their participation in first string play. Seven of our boys also made the basketball teen, viz., Bob Harrison, Mex Hawk, Stub Grady, Mick Treglia, Hugh Long, Hey Downard, and Stan Reed. 'We are equally proud of our classmates who took fprrt in music., In December our class held its first 'arty at Umzschmi building. We played several games and afterwards refresh- ments werc served. Everyone had a fine time and the party was n great success. Then on February 15th the girls had a party of their own at the school building which was equally successful. ' -Bud,Reichelderfer

J O K E S Two old timers decided to go on-a huntini -trip. Each hunter suffered fron an affliction. Sam couldn't utter a word without stammering. Hank suffered so much from palsy that he'couldn't carry a pail of apples without shaking it empty. As the boys were strolling along. Sam spied a bird in atree. Raising his arm to halt Hank, he remarked: HL-l-l-140 lu-lu-look at the ba-bu-babu-bird. nRaising his gun and taking a careful aim, he fired. As the smoke cleared away, the bird remained, unconcernedly on the limb. UGol-durn ya, Sam, ya missed himlu Hank exclaimed. nLeave me have a shot at himln Hank raised his gun and waving it around in a se- ries of wild qyrations and jerks, he fired. After picking Hank up, Sam dashed to the tree andstared unbelievingly at the G81d bird on the ground. Finally he turned to Hank and said: HWa-wu-wa-wu-well, na-a-no wonder you hit it, ya-ya-ya--you aimed all o-o-over the who-whole d-d-d-dar-d-d-darned pa-pa-pl-place. . aaeeeeaeeseeeeeeeeae Mr. Badertscher-nWhat do you know about nitrates?u Jhitmore--HNot much, but I do know they are cheaoer than day rates.
