JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY In the early part of September of 1944, a new group of uknowledge seekersn entered the stately portals of'LaFayf ette-Jackson High School. Let us look at them as they entered upon their higher scholastic career. How eager, yet how unsettled they were. To guide them through the hectic first year, they chose the following class officers: President, Herbert McElwaingV1ce- President, Lewis Endelg Secretary-Treasurer, Clara Dirmeyerg Student Council Representative, Joan Boyd. Part of them returned the next year as sophomores. By this time, they had risen above their humble level as fresh- nen and gained confidence in themselves. They elected as President Don Smithg with Dick Smith as Vice-Presidentg Joan Boyd, Secretaryg Rosalee Emerick, Treasurerg Dick Nhitmore, Student Council Representativeg and Lloyd Littler as the Re-, porter. In 1946, after spending two years as under-classmen, they returned to their studies as juniors, which- brings us up to our present position. This year, we chose as our class leaders the following: President, Lloyd Littlerg Vice-President, Jim smlthg Sec- retary-Treasurer, Clara Dirmcverg Student CouncllRepresenta- tive,'Joan Boydg Reporter, Herbert McElwain. , ' At the beginning of the year, in those unsettled weeks just before tht dull grind of studies became apparent, the juniors-were well remembered in the cheerleader selections by the elections of Rosalee Enerick and Maxine MgNett. Q Junior athletes receiving letters in sports were:FbotB ball--Russell Gossman, Dick Hayes, Jim Smith, Herb McElwain, Lloyd littler, and Norman Longneler. The first five.were on the starting line-up. We have several of our class who are mombersof thoHDraa matics Club.H And all were active in the variousproductions put forth by this organization. ' Our class is ably represented ln the music department, and we aided greatly in the earning of many valuable points in the Allen County Eisteddfod.
