' s x ' 3 , 5 - H x ,-4' PAST EXPERIENCE AND EXPECTATlONS During the past years in school and out, you have encountered many varied experiences. Some probably have been just as you ordered them fand many times you have ordered wrongb, and others have been cast upon you or they iust came your way. Experience is a great thing, but what mat- ters most is just how your character is shaped. The thing to keep in mind is that the end products should be the result you are sincerely looking for. Out of all right experience should come a good harvest of wisdom, strength of character, and purification of heart. We should never boast of our private convictions until they have been kneaded into the events that have come to you from the fountain of destiny. Your environment becomes an integral part of your personality. You never know what you are without passing through experience, which means you are definitely the results of the forces acting on you and the forces acting within you, incline your experiences toward the upper level. Set your stake down now, that you will not despise your time, the people of it, nor the demands put on you. Learn as best you can to understand and to interpret your surroundings: Read the message of events: Love the people fate has put you down with: And at the same time, respond to your work with all the talent you possess. Do this instead of criticizing, and you will find your niche for service much more quickly as you go out to serve mankind, and you will be much more agreeable to the folks who have to live with you. This race of mankind is made up of the things that are good, bad, and indifferent. Always keep in mind that the things that tend to lead man's mind away from selfishness and strictly bodily pleasures and over to the higher things of life are the great agencies of progress. These agencies you can not afford to neglect. As the years of life creep upon you, may you never look and realize that you have amassed only a past, a pile of memories, with tragedy facing you, but always look to the 'future throughout life. Out of this comes the true faith in all mankind, and in it a veritable fountain of youth. C. M.
