Um p Every spring at the end of the school year, the Lafayette OAK makes an appearance. This is made possible through the united efforts ot our helpful adviser, Miss Mildred Bringman, and our competent Editor, Joyce McCammon. Joyce gave valuable time to the yearbook, even though she carried a full schedule and was unable to enter a Study Hall. The job of Editor is a worrisome and tiring one. All written copy was submitted by Literary Editor, Carole Huber, and her assistants. The OAK staff wishes to thank everyone for his co- operation and helpfulness. We hope that you enjoy this OAK as we enjoyed working on it. 1? ...J 58 ' Sm!! 040:14 ' Our school paper, the Lafayette Light, is sponsored by Miss Mildred Bringman who has been a very understanding and patient adviser. Every member of the Journalism Class must participate in the gathering of news for the paper. This is a iob which re- quires a good personality, the ability to get along with people, and plenty of school spirit. We have found that no matter what difficulties we have had, the Light has always fought its way into completion. Janie Edwards, Editor, has served the office with great determination, efficiency, and stamina. Janie and her assistant, Mary Jane Rodriguez, have had some very difficult problems and have always ironed out these difficulties successfully. As the next Christmas drew near Lancelot returns to the Court of Arthur bringing Galahad lRonnie Chastainl. Galahad kneels at the altar to perform his vigil. As he kneels Modred draws his sword intend- ing to kill him but as he moves to do so Galahad made the sign of the cross. Modred, afraid to harm the boy now, decides to tempt him instead. Modred brings four Damsels. The Damsel of Wealth Ueanie Swailsl The Damsel of Fame iDonna Brownl, the Damsel of Pride lKaren Schindlerl, the Damsel of Vainglory lMarilyn Stilesl. Galahad refuses their gifts and is left alone. Suddenly the Damsel of Purity enters and places upon Galahad's Cape the CF055 of Consecration. Again it is Christmas Eve and each of the Knights in turn lays his gift before the altar. The vision did not appear until Lancelot brought in Galahad. The Hall was filled with beautiful music and a bril- liant light shown and a group of angels came bearing the Holy Grail. Seating Galahad in the Seige Perilous reserved for the perfect knight, the angels passed from the Hall of Camelot bearing the Holy Grail, Galahad rose and followed and one by one all the knights of Arthur followed. The King stood motionless before his throne and the voice of Galahad drifted back. 69 'r 2. Charles Elliott and Be I.
