His friendly interest and co-operation have greatly contributed to the success of his career. Board of Education The teachers and students of Lafayette saythanks to you, the members of the School Board, for the time and patience you have given to the welfare of our school. Mr. D. H. Murphy, our princi- pal, is as much a part of Lafayette as green and gray or the Irish spirit. As the seniors go to their different fields of work, there will always linger memories of Lafayette and our beloved Mr. Murphy. His end- less effort to see Lafayette rank the highest, his encouragement and ad- vice have planted a seed deep in the hearts of every alumni. Howard, vice-prin- cipal of Lafayette High School, is respected by all as teacher and administrator. He excels in many fields and does well every task he undertakes. Y Student Senate B OB C OUR TNEY Student Body President This organization, the Student Senate, has been formed in order to assure closer relations between the faculty and the student, to. promote the general welfare of the school, to encourage sentiments of law and order, and to provide a forumfor the discussion of questions of interest to the school. Bob Courtney has proved to be one of the out- standing student body presidents in Lafayett's history, His energetic and humorous approach to his task and his abounding vitality have made him well-liked by the students and faculty. He has also shown his ability to handle a serious situationto deal effectively with the duties of his high office. LAFAYETTE ENIOYS SUCCESSFUL 5O CA M PA IG N UNDER NEW MENTOR, DEAN GEORGE Lafayette High School was represent- on on the gridiron this year by one of the most successful squads to wear the green and grey in several seasons. Under the guidance of our new head football coach, Dean George, our Irish gridsters waded through a tough eight game schedule, being undefeated in six and losing only two. They also tied for third place in the annualjamboree, which was won by Central. Sparked by the terrific passing of tail- back, Vic Eaton, the outstanding pass receiving of end, Tom Kelly, the sen- sationalbreakaway running of wingback, Tom Sloan, the power slants of fullback, Don Silcott, and the bruising une Play of such outstanding sophomores as tackle, I Jerry Strong, and guards, Carol Townsend and Bill Crenshaw, our Shamrocks startled the opposition with a tricky Tulsa single wing offence which couldn't be stopped.
