LAMPION SOCIETY The main feature of the Class of '48 is the induction of the thirteen students into the Lampion Society on April 8, 1948. Lampion is taken from the Greek word lamplin, which means to shine forth, or give light. In order to become a member of the Lampion Society, which was originated in 1941, a senior must be in the upper 10 per cent of his graduating class. This year the average grade had to be 3.17 or above. This is the highest honor a student can receive at Lafayetteg therefore, all of the students strive to reach this goal in their four years of high school.
