Cheerleading at Lafayette is much more than leading yells at pep rallies and games. Before football season starts and the first g a me rolls around, summers have been taken up with carwashes, prac- tices, clinics, and odd jobs such as giving out programs at all-star games. Only a cheerleader knows the thrill of running through the L formed by the band While the school song is being played, a coaches, hug after a close game, or the feeling of satisfaction at seeing the sign that took all Week to make being hung. But by the same token only a cheerleader can know the depression when the week's Work is ripped down by a vic- torious rival. This emotion comes While a cheerleader Works for her team and in do- ing so get caught up by the same spirit she strives to evoke in others.
