Red, White, and Blue have a special meaning to Lafayette students. They are the colors of their school as well as their country. Named after the Marquis de Lafayette, Lafayette High School adopted its school colors from the flag of France. The yearbook, the MARQUIS, got its name from his titleg the name of the athletic teams, the Generals, was adopted from his military rank. During this special year of a presidential election, it is appropriate to pay tribute to the Red, White, and Blue of the flag of America. White signifies Purity and Inno- cence. Red symbolizes Harshness and Valor. Blue signifies Vigilance, Perseverance and Justice. The saluting of the flag at opening day ceremonies by students is a tribute to the CHALLENGE OF AMERICA.
