Decorated in red, white, and blue the halls echoed the ex- citement of hopeful victory against our cross-county rival Bryan Station. Key Club lynchers hanged a Bryan Sta- tion Defender in effigy to the angry cries of Let7s hang himll' Before a spirited mob of General enthusiasts, Mr. ,lames Ishmael, principal, climbed on the gallows and led the crowd in a school cheer. Mounting rivalry was further evidenced by a dummy Defender in a colorful coiiin, placed in the center hall by the art depart- ment. White carnations with red and blue ribbons sold by the National Honor So- ciety added color to the traditional S'Red, White, and Blue Day when students wear the school colors. of! A 5, Cookie Bent and John Alexander display the tradia tional colors worn on i'Red, White and Blue Day.
