Concienne Mr. John Guilbeau Because science plays such an important part in our lives in this day and age, a knowledge of science is essential to the well-rounded, well- educated adult. Through the study of science, each student is given an opportunity to investi- gate the wonders of the universe. In general science he will learn the fundamentals and basic facts of many branches of science, in biology he will study the plant and animal kingdoms and the hiunan body. Chemistry includes the study of elements, chemicals, and compoundsg physics, the highest science offered at L.H.S., is the study of matter and motion. Both the biology and chemistry departments have excellent labora- tory facilities. Mathematics is no longer merely one of the three R's. It is of great value in the highly technical world of today. The space program, the output of computers, and the idea of automation, all require the technical skill developed through mathematics. The subjects offered by the math department at L.H.S. are general math, Algebra I, geometry, Algebra II, Senior math, advanced math and trigonometry. Civics, which is required in the tenth grade, is the study of our government, and it also includes current affairs.
