U L15 0l .'5 Dear Graduates: It gives us great pleasure to congratulate you boys and girls of the class of June, 1964, on this happy occasion. You have the honor of being the silver anni- versary class of Lafayette, as well as the largest in its history. You epitomize Thomas Jeffersons great American dream of a richer and greater America through universal education. You represent the promise and the fulfillment of that dream. Our states- men realized then, as they do now, that education is the fountainhead of real democ- racy for all peoples and all races. Lafayette has been the anvil on which you have tested your talents, skills, interests, and hopes. Tempered and matured by the lessons you have learned in and out of the classroom, you are better prepared for the challenge and for the struggle that awaits you outside these walls. l'Ve have faith that you young people will be in the vanguard of those who will endeavor to make your home and family, your community and country, places where warmth, friendship, and good-will prevail, We are about to reach into other worlds in science and technology. Yet, our world can use a little more tolerance and understanding, a little less violence and greed, a little more intelligence and cultureg a little less ignorance and apathy. Wherever you go from here, you carry with you our best wishes for a life of happiness. Sincerely, HELEN BLICKER HERNIAN BRENNER EILEEN O,SHEA JEANNE STELLA 9
