wit in Time The obscure lights grew dim as a perceptible air of expectancy hovered over the pensive audience. The laborious weeks of preparation had come to an end. Gone were the echoing voices of the persuasive Go-Getters from the halls of Lafayette. Captain HANNETTE RESNIKOFF, CAROL LUSTIG, MARIA FRUGONI, and FLORENCE NIDITCH had succeeded in completing a remarkable project, Operation Selloutf' G.O, oHicers TED SMOLLER, SHEILA JOSEFSBERG, LENORE STEINHAUS, and ARLINE ERIEDMAN supervised the performance. The curiosity of all was aroused by an avalanche of publicity bestowed upon the coming event by SEYMOUR EISENMAN, FILAMENA DE SENA, and IRENE LEVINE, editor of the Lafayette News. Participants, directors, and dates were men- tioned, but not an inkling of the actual theme was revealed, except that its purpose was to celebrate the triumphant victory of Lafayettels football team as the New York City Champions of 1953. The curtain rose, revealing the mysterious theme.- In one corner was a lifelike creation of a Model-T Ford, opposite it stood a copy of Lindbergh's famous plane the Slbirit of SI. Louis, Paintings of Red Grange, the Gallopifzg Gboflg Rudolph Valentino, the Great Lavery and the Dempsey-Tunney fight comprised the backdrops. There could be no doubt that these scenes represented the era of the lively Charles- ton and the carefree Happers-The Roaring Twenlier. It was evident that the scenery, which had been prepared by MOSES TAWIL, ERNIE ROSENBLATT, DONALD SPECTOR, and ALEX RUSKEWICH of the stage squad, had made a deep impression on all. BARBARA EPSTEIN, of the Legendg JUDY SALINGER, LEWIS STEIN, and CAROL WELT, editors of the Newt, were taking careful notes of the colorful dancers on stage: CAROL KRAMER, BARBARA TRAMAGLINO, LENORE KAYE, MARION TESCHNER, and MARLENE KIRSCHNER of the Boosters, all doing the ever-popular Charleston. A spectacular display of twirling by JOAN FISCHMAN, STEPHANIE WAR- SHAWSKY, IDA PASSAMONTI, and HARRIET HARRIS were seen next, symbol- izing the campaign for woman's suffrage. In a dramatic courtroom act, members of the Student Court portrayed the trial of AI Capone. MILDRED DENES, Chief Justice, appeared as the judge, with KARL FLEISCHMAN, and DEBBIE BABUS as the defense and prosecuting attorneys, respec- tively, making their pleas to a jury composed of JOAN RUBIN, BARBARA KLEIN, EDWARD FRIEDMAN, RAY PRATI, and LOUIS ROTHMAN. The remainder of the humorous entertainment was furnished by SID BERGER, LARRY BERNSTEIN, PHYLLIS GROSS, EVELYN EDSON, MARILYN GROSS ABE MUSLIN, PAT OPPEDISANO, BARBARA WEINSTEIN, WARREN SMITH and DOTTY BEHAM of the Speakers' Bureau. As time sped on, it became apparent that the ability of the young thespians was equaled only by the versatility of the orig- inators of their material: JEAN RUSSO, ELEANOR YAM, ARLINE LEE, and ELEAN ORE HARRIS, all of Lafayette's literary magazine, the Mazrqzziy. As the grand finale came to a close, the obscure lights cautiously came to life, the curtain dropped, and the familiar music subsided. ' CAROL WELT IRENE LEVINE r 7 Twenty-three
