Toil is the law. Pleasure comes through toil and not by self-indulgence and indolence. When a person gets to love work, his life is a happy one. During the past few months you have been giving thought to your iuture days. What have they in store lor you? I trust that the happy days you have spent at Lafayette have in some measure taught you to appreciate the truth in the words of Iohn Ruskin quoted above. May you have learned the lesson to do each day's work on that day to the best of your ability. May you love your work and may it make your lives really and truly happy. Your principal, FREDERICK WILLIAM OSWALD. 6

TO THE GRADUATES: It is always hard to say good-bye to boys and girls whom we have grown to know so well and who have become so much a part of our lives. And yet, becausei of our hopes and aspirations for those same boys and girls, we say a sincere hail and farewell. God speed to you all! May the lessons you learned at Lafayette serve you well in life. May the friends you made be lasting ones. And may the happiness ot your high school days be fond memories throughout your lives. Sincerely, VERA R. DUFORT '7
