Then up comes the little fellow Who starts to blow his horn To send that toughy off the field, Even though in scorn. Then he starts to park himself, At the end of the bench. And every move the coach does make l-le begins to quench. The crowd begins to bother him For he possesses pride, For those critics know nothing more Than ride, ride, ride. The worst has really not shown up, For Monday is to come, The poor lad doesn't know what to do, To stay or take a run. Monday Finally manages to come, Not mentioning the restless sleep, And wandering down the halls or corridors, Not able to say a peep. The coach then calls all the players To report the good and bad. Not knowing that one of the players ls awfully, awfully sad. The coach merely tells the lad Just where he was wrong Placing the lad and rest of them, On the track where they belong, .itll W 0, Q , X ., 1 f-is N T i - l , , X T ii lyil T POOR SUB l've been meditating certainly a lot About those poor little subs, Who in the opinion of the crowd Occupy the positions of duks. Just before the fall term begins, The coach issues a call. You'Il find these boys in the greatest number, Chattering and loitering the hall. There they sit with anxiety, For it's their first time out, And when they get that oversized suit Boy, do they shoutl Friendship is their greatest task, And their approach is awfully nice. But still there are certain individuals Whose retaliation is Nice. Out they go on the football field Oh, Boy! to show their stuff, But inexperience and ragged suits, Will make it somewhat tough. Some are waiting for the pictures, Taken in the fall So, when the friends take out the annuals They'll answer to the call. Gradually they drop along the wayside, Offering many excuses But those really out for football, Truly know the abuses. Banquet time does annually come To honor all, or an athlete, But beneath the team, success or failure, These subs are hard to beat.
