Sadie Ha wkins Survives Storm Saturday, February 9: The day began at 9 a.m, for members of both Panorama and Scholarship Fund. They arrived at the gym to set up for the annual Sadie Hawkins Sweetheart Dance. The members, with help from the back- stage crew, hung streamers, painted signs, taped hearts, and generally set up until 6:30 pm. This year, the two organizations combined their ideas and skills to make a super and different Sadie Hawkins. However, new plans for the dance ran into problems, and many changes were made Melanie McCurdy, Meridith Forti, and Sarah Wolfe seem to enjoy the dance with their dates. Even rumors of cancelling the dance, if enough tickets were not sold, spread throught the school. Luckily, the students came through and bought enough tickets so the dance oculd go on. Unfortunately bad weather hindered full attendance. Freezing rain caused quite a number of minor accidents, but no one got injured. Circus Theme For Carnival The 1985 Scholarship Fund Carnival, Under the Big Top, did not meet the usual standards from past years. This year, Scholarship Fund had problems with its annual events, and the carnival, unfortunately, was another event that did not do as well as in the past. In past years, the carnival has made a proht of between 51500 - 32000, but this year it only raised about S600 for proht. However, the people who did participate in the carnival enjoyed them- selves. Quite a number of students joined in the theme and dressed up. Gift certificates to Streetside Records were awarded to the two best costumes. A small prize was also awarded to the best booth. So, even without the big crowds of the past, the carnival was successful in getting people involved with the spirit of everything.
