Eudals Finish Second In State The 1978 Varsity Water Polo Team with its new coach, Dan Casey, complet- ed an outstanding season with a record of 20-7. With the loss of Coach Craig Canat- sey at the end of last year's season, many thought the Eudals would have trouble adjusting to new ideas and tactics. How- ever, through hard work and excellent coaching, the Eudals compiled the second best record in the school's history. Seed- ed seventh in the state tournament, the Eudals finished second, losing a close game to top seeded SLUH by a score of 9-8. CoCaptains Bob Chambers and Bri- an Pultman were elected to All State as were juniors Norm Halliday and Andy Guignonj Other outstanding players were Kevin Blinder, Scott Schrader, and Jeff Peskind. The Sophomore Water Polo Team completed a frustrating season without a victory. The Baby Eudals, though lacking in size, displayed a lot of hard work and determination. Soccer Rams F1n1sh Tough Season buf The Varsity Soccer Team, coached by Rob- ert Norris, found it to be a very trying and difficult season. The Soccer Rams finished the season with a dismal record of 2-14-2. With only two returning starters, the Rams lacked the experience to com- pete successfully in the nation's soccer capitol. Tri- Captains Roger Cooper, Ted Estes, and Jack Spooner anchored the Rams, while Jean-Maurice Brun, Dan Leppo, Gary Sherman, and Steve Wie- lansky all performed commendably. The goaltend- ing chore was shared by senior Kevin Callihan and sophmore Steve Geib. With the loss of only three starters and more experience, next year's Soccer Rams should be headed into a more prosperous season. The Sophmore Soccer Team completed an excellent season with a record of 10-8. Coached by Ronald Probst, the Sophmore Rams found teamwork and determination to be the winning combination. Some of the standouts included Mi- chael DeSimone, Josh Glaser, Brian Little, and George Hensley. They, along with other players, hope to assist the varsity team to a possible con- ference championship. 130 Athletics
