Team captains and returning guards were Lynn Selander and Janice Dubinsky. Chairs were provided along the sidelines for all those fathers whose sons partici- pated in Varsity football. After the game there was a getrtogether where food and drinks were served. and everyone relaxed and enjoyed himself, The Lettermans Club sponsored the annual Faculty-Lettermans Club basketball game, and provided officials for all the elementary schools' basketball games. The officers this year were: Ron l.urie. Presidenti Bob Fischmann, Vice-President: Bob l-eutwiler. Secretary: and Bob Kop- lar. Treasurer. Coach Davis was the sponsor. The officers were l.vnn Selander. President: Pepper Deckert. Vice-Presidentg and Nlary Stuebner. Secretary- Treasurer. Under the able sponsorship of Xliss Grueb. the officers planned UNITY WCW activities. starting with the initiation of prospective members soon after the start of school. The members sponsored two needy families. providing food for them at Thanksgiving and clothing for them at Christmas time. An orphans' plav-dav and a vollevball plavfdav for surrounding schools were held in early spring. At the end of the year the club gave a tea for its members and their mothers. at which time the athletic awards were presented 94 Pep Club I 960 'Ar Pep Club The Pep Club. in line with its purpose of promot- ing school spirit, attempted to get students interested in supporting all of the athletic teams. During the foot- ball season, the club sold mums and buttons, and de- corated the goal posts. The tradition of forming a double line for the team to run through was continued. Several times the members made a frame with a picture of a Rams head on it for the team to jump through. For the winter and spring sports. the members tried to attend not only basketball and baseball games. but also the games of other sports participated in during these seasons. Posters. schedules, and announcements were used to publicize all sports events. Cheering was improved. Special sections were marked off for students who really wanted to cheer and several such contests were held. Thanks to the cheerleaders. many new yells and songs were added. A collection of the cheers and songs was typed and distributed to students and parents who were not familiar with them. Because the old constitution was outdated, the club designed a new and more useful model. This new constitution provides for a cabinet elected by the club members. Composed of six members. the alternate cheerleader. and the officers, the cabinet suggested and planned activities in detail for the club. The new con- stitution also contains many new ideas and procedures for the club to follow in future years. Money earned in bake sales and in dues went for several purposes. Some helped to pay for buses to games far away. Other expenses of the treasury covered buy- ing gold megaphone charms and equipment for the cheerleaders. The remainder was spent on new pennants for the gym. 1 XVith the support. interest and Uschool spirit ot the student body. the pep club has had one of its most successful and active seasons. 95 ,K T f . 4 lei: if' .31-if seg Q stdin Obbicena Sealed: Ginny Schmidt. The purpose of the Latin Club was to further the understanding of the language and the culture of the Roman people. Membership was open to any student taking Latin in the senior high. The Latin Club under the club officers Jay Fetner, Consul: Don Bryant, Co-Consul: Sue Brackbill, Sec- retary: and Ginny Schmidt, Treasurer: and under the able leadership of Mr. Schmidt and Mr. Berdrow had a successful and active year. This year, departing from the usual Saturnalia Ban- quet, the club 'gave a banquet on March l2 to commem- orate Julius Caesar's death. After much planning, the gala evening arrived and fun was had by all. The high- light of the evening was Caesar's burial. Other activi- ties during the year included the movie i'Androcles and the Lion, a trip to Missouri State Classical League Convention, and another movie shown late in the year.
