The first of these is the teachers knowledge and full understanding of his subject matter to a degree vvherelwy he can pass on his knowledge to the student. The second pref requisite is an interesting, pleasing, and stimulating personality. the kind of teacher who can make xventy minutes seem like sevcn. We at Ladue are fortunate in having a staff largely composed of these kind of people. Most of our teachers go even beyond these basic requirements for good teaching, for they take a sincere interest in the welfare of our school and in us. How many times have you seen one of your teachers cheering on our teams? It is this extra measure of devotion that makes our Ladue teaching staff the hest instead of just good: the conferences and extra time they give us after school hours: the time and talent they give us in backing our many cluhs, classes, and organizations as sponsors: the -3-

time many of our staff give in coaching us in after' school athletics: the many hours spent in staff meetings planning a curriculum suited to our needs: the many projects for bettering our school, in which our teachers are engaged: the department meetings of our teachers so that our years in one suhject area will he related and progressive.
