CLASS HISTORY It was a clear, beautiful day, in the year of 1946 A. D. , as the following I7 new recruits entered the Cadet Training Academy: Bernie Bouse, Janet Brunst, Brenda Craig, David Deckard, Myron Densmore, Sandra Graham, Johnny King, Alice' Ann Martin, Robert Mitchell, Phyllis Morris, Jimmy McClellan, Gordon Paddock, Billy Poynter, Sandra Strickler, Martha Warner, Janice Young and Tommy Zimmerman. During the trainees first year, their instructor was Lieutenant Featherstone. One day the trainees were taken on a special rocket mission. When in space, they were allowed to don their space suits and walk about on the hull of the ship. Upon re-entering the ship, two tag-a-longs were unknowingly left outside. This was not discovered until the cadets were back at the Academy. By then it was too late to get the ones left behind. Lieutenants Hostetter and Bell directed the trainees through their second year, while Lieutenants Strick- ler and Tumer instructed them through their third and fourth years at the Academy. During this time Sandra Graham transferred to a different Academy, and Charles Sells, Rex Sutherlin, Sharon Ingram and Patty McGaughey entered the Training Academy to leam the principles of rocket propulsion and gyrocompass reading During the next two years, Lieutenants Jones and Low directed the Trainees through such classes as, Advanced Astronomy and the foreign languages, Martian, Plutorian, Saturian and Jupiterian. The next three years, the trainees were under the supervision of Captain Swinney. A new trainee, Fred Sabens, entered the Academy during this time. Now, the trainees were full-fledged cadets, well on their way to space travel. Rocket flights were held under the supervision of Captain Priebe. At this time Frank Chittick entered the Academy. On May 22, 1958 A. D. , 23 cadets graduated from the Cadet Training Academy, all with top honors. After a trip to the Moon and Mars, the new officers began their new lives in interplanetary space travel. May- be they will meet again some day in the future, and maybe again, they will never meet. But, who knows what the future holds for those who travel into space in search of their long fought-for goals?
