Pictured here are members of this year's Yearbook Staff appearing in a rather unusual photograph by local photographer, joe Trindal. It should be pointed out that this book is a student learning project and that the annual is a product of that ex- perience. This book is not perfect nor is it professional. But, for the first time since I have been the yearbook ad- viser, all work has been done by students. The adviser advised and resisted the urge to grab the helm and do it right. All creative decisions, photographing, developing, printing, copy writing and editing, advertising sales, page designs and bookkeeping are the result of student work. Special commendations are in order for students who made outstanding contributions. Jennifer Moore did an outstanding job as editor. She was ably assisted by julie Ellis and Neal Schultz. The photographers and printers were john Marine, David Gardner, jon Herrera, jason Schoen, Hal Slone, john Thomas and Steve Toland. Glen Anderson, a non-staff member, also helped. These young men gave up their lunch for over a semester to print, learned a lot about printing and photography and did a creditable job. Randy Sgro emerged as a very successful salesman and business manager. l-le is credited with the impressive advertising section. By the way, advertising is included in this book as a means of teaching ad-sales as a reality of the publishing world. The ads also help keep the price of the book down. The advertising section layouts were done by Lisa Cayley, Pam Donato, Stacy Kenin, Charisse I-loogland, and Lisa l-lertado. These ladies also worked on other sections and were a great help. Paul Mooney and Kahala I-Iickoff did a fine job as staff artists. The cover was designed by. Kevin O'Neil1 did all the typing. The group section was organized and put together by Tammy Stanley, Scott Rongey, and Lucien Henderson, with the later acting as director. Rich Liem edited the sports sec- tion and was helped by Bobby Byrurn, Bobby Nagle, Robin Francisco, Eddy Hart and Robert Reade. Sharon Fontes was the layout editor and was responsible for many other important jobs on the book. john Kurkjuan was the photo file clerk, general organizer and was assisted by Ken Gragg. These young men also helped in the darkroom. The theme of this year's book looks to our future in space and is called Spartan Space Age. Cover designed by Ricky Martin. Sincerely, Mr. Bill Garm Adviser 7
