4 S11perinZem!c'1zl's Message You have heard a great deal in your school lives about true success, about living a good lifeg you have heard much about the necessity of being a good citizen. You will hear about these things continuously, you will subscribe to them often, they will grow in meaning throughout your lives. Success, knowledge, a good life, good citizenship - these are enviable achievements and attributes. They challenge your best efforts. May you all achieve each one in good measure. We trust Laconia High School has played a vital part in leading you to an understanding of their worth. But more than this, it is my personal wish that each one of you may also know true happinessg that you may conquer the fears and worries of life, that selfishness and envy may never dull your natural instincts of love and compassion for your fellow beings. It is my hope that the natural urge for personal security, for personal safety, for satisfactions, may not blunt the fine edge of your spirit. May anxie- ties and desires be shared with all about you, and through this sharing may serenity and confidence and ecstasy come to you as a sign of your respect and love for every other human being. Inevitably we share the good and evil in this life with all our fellows. As we influence them and as they influence us, we can all partake most com- pletely in God's mercy and God's bounty and God's plan for us all. Principal? Message Much is said and written during these times about one's conduct. I would like to leave a different thought. My wish is that your thinking be honorable also. The Bible has said, concerning the Christian way: Finally brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there be any praise, think on these things. There is much which might be said about, thinking on these things. Time is spent and time is wasted with thoughts on subjects of little value or of untruths. As we dedicate our actions so should we also, in so far as possible, dedicate our thinking. Meditation and carefully directed thinking on matters beneficial to mankind reflect well in one's personality. The state of mind is important, success begins with one's will. Someone has said: Think big, and your deeds will grow, Think small and you fall behind .... Such words are true and they speak my brief message to you who are graduated. Think on those things important. Think high, for you have much to do. r
