for the second straight week rain was falling as we took the field. we were favored to beat carbondale easily but still my nervousness was evident. it was a battle just trying to hold onto the muddy football and get the best footing possible. Mix... .Lu it was nearing the end of the fourth quarter and, as yet, no one had crossed the goal line. then we dug in and within a matter of seconds, we scored twice: a quick trap gave us the first score of the game, then a great defensive play went for another t.d. to put the game, then a great defensive play went for another t.d. to put the game out of reach for our opponents.someone had to like US...

we rw, ,vi this one was billed as the championship game. . . 11 U 4 a powerful offense against an outstanding defenseg or was there another factor? it was a must win for both susque- hanna and usg the nervousness was evident at both ends of the field. the monsters that lurked in my stomach in previous games were baby brothers to the ones that controlled it now. Susquehanna had size, speed, and a 5-0 record that matched ours, but somehow they seemed beatable. now it was only a matter of desire! . . who wanted it more! . . they scored first, but from that moment on, the game was OUVS . . .
