ltn mvmnriam Iosspn P. KEATING Director of Vocational and Industrial Education To some men, the achievement of a worthy goal takes on the aspect of a crusade with all its attendant ostentation. Other men work quietly, serenely but not the less zealously to attain their cherished objectives. In such a subdued and modest manner, did Mr. Keating strive to bring the opportunities for industrial and vocational training to the youth of our city. His death, during the school year, is an irreparable loss to the vocational program. But in another sense it is a personal bereavement to his family, his many friends and his asso- ciates from whom there has been taken a man of warm friendship, articulate loyalty, and an admirable zeal for his profession. Regrettably, he passed on when, like his own manhood, the fruits of his labors were in full flourish. But to the students of our school, Mr. Keating's memory is ever enshrined in his achievements for education. WALTER H. Kocr-1 Director of Band, Instructor in Music At a moment of triumph, as the strains of our National Anthem blended into the majestic roar of the Falls, the baton of the Great Band- master timed the closing measure ot a life dedicated to music. When Mr. Koch came to Lackawanna, he began patiently to build the musical organization oi which we all were to become so proud. To the boys and girls who studied under his inspiring leadership, Mr. Koch imparted his own glowing enthusiasm, and instilled in them a zeal for perfection re- flected in the accomplishment of many of his pupils. His was a life dedicated to his work and he gave unstintingly of his energy and of the benefits of his wide and varying experi- ence. He has left with us a high standard of accomplishment and in tribute to his memory, we shall strive to maintain it.
