.Mafory of .sznior Cfami The freshman class of 1947-48 started the ball rolling with the largest freshman class in history of the school. The enroll- ment was one hundred and nineteen, an increase of forty-one over the freshman enrollment of 1946-47. The honor of lead- ing the class through the first victorious year was bestowed upon the following officers: Luvonne Wiley, president, Ger- ald Myers, vice-presidentg Betty Branham, secretary- treasurer, Patricia Sailsbury, Milton Lowmaster, and Marvin Rex- winkle, student council representatives, Barbara van den Berg, and Robert Zou- cha. cheerleaders. Helping us bounce over the high points of our journey were Miss Witham, Miss Jarrell, Mr. Lucas, and Mr. Crossetto. The class was active in all musical organizations, sports, and other activities about the school. Jean Stevens and Jimmy Roberts were candidates for Carnival King and Queen. At the first meeting of the sophomore class, the following officers were elected: Milton Lowmaster, president, Vic Chris- man, vice-president, Shirley Parlett, sec- retary-treasurerg Erma Jean Bryson and Gerald Myers, cheerleaders, Lurena Mar- tinie, Leona Strickland, and Betty Bran- ham, student council representatives. The sponsors were Mr. Hutchinson, Miss New- comb, Miss Norma Jean Peterson, and Mr. Zahn. The class did a great deal of work on the Carnival Cake Walk and all other activities of the school. There were many members winning high honors in all events. The junior class had the largest class in school this year with sixty-three girls and fifty-eight boys. At the first class meeting the following officers were elected: Leon- ard Meier, president, Duane Hoy, vice- president, Bernita Brader, secretary-treas- urerg Duane Herrmann, sergeant-at-arms, Betty Branham and Vic Chrisman, cheer- leaders, Leona Strickland, Darrell Frog- ley, and Betty Milks, Student Council rep- resentatives. Class sponsors were Mrs. Bowles, Mrs. Ahrens, Mr. Thompson, and Mr. Shell. Sixteen juniors made the first semester honor roll. On December 15, the class presented the play Families Are Like That, under the direction of Miss Grow. The class acted as hosts to the senior class at the annual Junior-Senior banquet. Career', was the theme of the banquet. The two parties were a hay' rack ride to Idle Hour Lake and a hamburger fry at Independence. The title of Dignified Seniors was given to the class this year. The officers of the year are: Duane Hoy, president, Danny Hagan, vice-president, Raymond Williams, secretary, VVayne Hucke, treas- urerg Jimmy Roberts and Shirley Parlett, cheerleadersg Leona Strickland, Gerald Myers, and Betty Milks were Student Council representatives. Sponsors are Miss Morgan, Miss Grow, Mr. Haury, and Mr. De Spain. The class motto is Out of school life and into life's school. Red and white were chosen as the class colors. The play the seniors put on this year was Mother Is a Freshman. The senior can- didates for Carnival King and Queen are Nadine Moon and Raymond VVilliams. The Senior King and Queen are Darrel F rogley and Barbara van den Berg.
