This year the staff joined the lntereollegiate Press Association. The staff took a trip to Kansas City with the members of the ParKan. At the end of the year. they had a banquet, There were a number of changes in the Reporter this year. The editorial page was changed, a wider photo coverage of school activities was started, and a stronger editorial policy about school affairs was adopted. Quill and Scroll is a national honor society for high school journalists. Members must have these four qualifications: l. Outstanding in journalism. 2. xlunior or Senior in High School. 3. In the upper third of the class. 4. Recommended and approved by the llournal- ism Instructor, Dean, and Executive Secre- tary. Quill and Scroll seeks to elevate publication standards, promote research, and improve the stand- ards of instruction. Through Quill and Scroll maga- zine, the official publication of the society, practical information concerning every phase of publication work is brought to editors, staff, and advisers with the end in view of raising the quality of high school journalism. The purpose of Quill and Scroll is to instill in students the ideal of scholarship: to advance the standards of the profession of journalism by develop- ing better journalists and by developing a higher code of ethics: to promote exact and dispassionate thinking, clear and forceful writing. The newly formed journalistic organization eot under way this year. It was organized last year. The chapter was named the Clyde M. Reed, jr. Chapter. Most of the meetings were luncheons. A pin and certificate were presented to Leon W'hetzel for out- standing work in journalism. One of the highlights of this organization was a trip to Kansas Citv. The initiation of new members was something to look forward to bv the members.
