The Vikings were slow to get started this year as they lost three out of their first four games. Two of these games were league tilts. The Vikes started their comeback by running over Pittsburg 33-6 then going on to win their last three games over Chanute, Columbus, and Fort Scott by large margins of 20-O, 40-6, and 18-O. Bill Hoisington and Jerry Graff, two fast stepping seniors, sparked the team to the upper-berth position. The Cards showed up very impres- sively defensively and offensively a- gainst Miami, a Little Rose Bowl con- tender. l The team had a late season start by dropping their first four games. Then they came back to whip Joplin 29-7. After getting the spirit, they lost a hard- fought battle to Coffeyville, 13-12. ln their next game, they battled the number one team in the state before giving in to Ark City 25-18. From there on out they took two impressive games from Kansas City and Fort Scott by the scores of 19-O and 13-6.
