Future Farmers of America The La Vega Future Farmers were busy during the year showing cal- ves, improving the Ag plot and competing in local contests. Officers were President jackie Abernathy, vice-president Thomas Meadors, Secretary Wendell Clark, Treasurer Billy Chapman, Reporter, joe Snokhous. The chapter conducting made it to district competition. Dairy judging 88 competition was entered by La Vega FFAers at several shows. There was also a beef judging team. The members showed livestock at shows in Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, Waco and San Antonio winning more than 20 ribbons and bringing home good prices for their cattle and chickens. Craig Dollins won the Area Schol- arship of H550 winning over other students in the Waco and sur- rounding area. Ag plot this year included replacing fences, building a new five-stall barn, erecting new lighting for some pens, and buying a new trim- ming table. The Chapter chose jennifer Young as their sweetheart.
