Top Students Honored Randy Robertson, Valedictorian Boyd BHFFSTT, Salutatorian Randy Robertson earned the honor of leading his class academically with an average of 98.35. Close be- hind was Boyd Barrett with 97.41. During his senior year, Randy was elected to Hall of Fame and was a National Honor Society member. He was on the Challenge team his junior and senior years and was captain his senior year. He received the Math and Science Awards, the Baush and Lomb Science Award and Mathematics Association of America Award. He was in the sen- ior play. His sophomore year he won the Spanish award, has been a Student Council representative and ran for president of his sophomore year. His junior year he went to Austin for Boy's State. He has been a member of the band and stage band for four years. Boyd was president of the Student Council his junior year, was vice- president of the Honor Society and was elected to Hall of Faane several times. He was sophomore favorite, vice-president of his freshman class and won the Spanish Award, Citi- zenship Award, Student Council Award, and P.E. Award. Boyd was co-author and star of the Ebony Blade, the senior play and was member of the challenge team his senior year. He served on the jolly Roger Staff his junior year, and was in NHS for two years. 69

Teachers of the Year Mrs. Delphia Adcock, woman teacher of the year was chosen be- cause of her years at La Vega. She has kept the same homeroom from freshmen to seniors while teaching business classes. She was a star member of the vvoman's faculty volleyball team that helped to earn S600 in scholarship money. She 70 helped with the senior play and ac- compained the seniors on their trip to Six Flags. Dan jones earned the honor as male teacher of the year based on many quickly found friends. Mr. jones came to La Vega this year to teach consumers and related math. He previously has taught art. His friendly manner and interest in stu- dents soon made him seem a part of La Vega. He directed the senior play, helping design the costumes. He also helped sponsor the senior trip and played on the faculty bas- ketball team to raise scholarship money for La Vega seniors.
