Volleyballers Take District The Varsity Volleyball team once again brought home a district title in 1972. This is the third such con- secutive title won by La Vega. The team ended the season with a 14-9 record in all play, At the Dis- trict Tournament in Mexia March 23 and 24, the five district teams met with La Vega remaining the victor. 120 At regional play at Houston Baptist College in Houston, La Vega placed second. All other district teams were from the Houston area. ln that tournament, they won one and lost one. The 1972 season was the first for Mrs. Sandy Hinton as Varsity Coach. She came to La Vega two years ago and coached B-team ball. Those on the varsity were Cherry Maxwell fmgr.j, Dorothy Kimble, Cindy Dunn, Pat Matthews, Debra Harris, Cindy Loveless tmgnj, Becky Terral, Lisa Honneycutt, Marsha Matus and two brought up during the season from the B-Team Deborah Mitchell and lanice Wollard.
