Homecoming Means Tradition Homecoming means a time to look back and a time to look forward. Exes return to familiar traditions of bonfires and celebrations. Students look back to these same traditions, and they look forward to the day when they will be the ones coming back. Festivities October 2 and 3 included the bonfire and pep rally. The game was against Mexia's Black Cats who trampled the Bucs during the last half, finishing with a 28-12 win. But the loss didn't seem to stop the spirit of celebration. After the game, a dance and reception for exes and students was held in the new gym. C'heerleader Donna Woodliff was caught in the excitement of the bonfire rally. In her mind was the hope that she f 'X might be chosen Homecoming Queen. 9

Memories Remain Homecoming is more than a time to return to a place. It is a memory of pleasant things revived for one short night. It is the memory of all the football games you ever lost and all the special nights when you wanted things to be perfect. It is a mem- ory of a favorite date standing beside you in the dark field circling the crackling bonfire. It is the memory all girls have of the time they hoped to be nominated queen, no matter how homely they might have been. It is the memory of every player who wanted to make the Winning run just once. Homecoming is a state of mind that recalls What- ever high schools years have meant, even to that short freshman with her first mum. r l
