The marines recently elected the sweethearts for their marching band. They were none other than Margaret Scott and Nadine Clifton. Of course. you probably knew that the marine has landed and has Mary Bess Robertson well in hand. Wilma Dee Back recently received a contract for an act in Ringling Brothers. Patsy Richardson is already working for then as the midget attrac- tion. I understand Wilma Dee was contracted to attend to Irate male customers. Both of my children are in the Highland Park School in Chicago. My daughter and son were telling me about their teachers. Tom is taking Shake- spearean English under Miss Norma Bongard. Miss Lois Byford is teaching Cathy social studies. I took some sewing out to a little lady out in the suburbs who takes in sewing all the time. When I walked in the door I was nearly bowled over by nine or ten young urchins who were playing Indians. After talking to the lady a while. I discovered that she was the former Bessie Chaneyworth and her family of boys now numbering eight. I told you in my last letter about my dear aunt who is now in the Austin Institute. didn't I? Our Ladies' Club takes up as its subject next week. 'America's Money Making Mints'. The pamphlets and material from the Philadelphia mint Cale with the signature of Zagnona Richardson. She always was good at handling money. Where do you buy your husband's shirts? The Cliff McTee Company of Illinois certainly design beautiful plaid shirts. My son and husband are simply crazy about them and I must say they're quite eye-catching. What do your children do for recreation? I had quite a problem until and understanding woman established a Teen-Age center in town. It's the Edna Kilgo Center. She has an able assistant in Wilva Jean Thompson. The Toni advertisements these days are surely attractive. but I sup- pose you haven't seen them. Those redhaired twins are very Ph0C096DiC- Their names are Ann and Nan McCormick and they are real Southern beauties. I haven't heard much from Cecelia Waschman since Senior year. However. I have gotten around enough to know that she's happily married in spite of all her children. She had triplets and a set of twins. you know. Betty Jo Lunday and Ruby Quiram now own and edit the Life Magazine. It featured an article on the life of a model last month. The model chosen for the feature story was Joyce Marcell. My youngsters began their education in a New York Grammar School. Their first grade teacher was James Freeman and he seems to have given them a good start . Cathy was entered in this year's Chicago Teen-age Beauty Contest and was placed second. I tried to converse with the judges before the show. but the only one who showed me any courtesy was Joe Price. the same one who was in Senior homeroom way back in 1950. by the way. Helen Walker and Frances Plagens are quite chummy now since they both married the two strong men in the circus. They have a darling. two-family bungalow just outside Coney Island. They recently published some new notes on atomic enerqy by Dr. Lloyd Wilson. Phyliss Glenn is his chief assistant and she is quite a brilliant scientist herself. Most of the people around the vicinity of Spiro. Oklahoma. get quite a laugh out of the cute Hermits' Lodge on Lookout Mountain. It is run by Pat Phillips and features solitude! I listen to the commentator. Mr. Bill Robertson, almost every night that I can. He always has some interesting comments on almost every subject. Cathy still entertains the idea of attending Baylor. I suppose I should write the Dean of Women. Janice Wyatt, and ask for information. That seems to be just about all of the news, dear. Don't neglect to vote in the Presidential election coming up in a couple of weeks. Bob Edd Shotwell is the favored Democratic Candidate and is expected to carry the nation by a landslide.
