The 1976 Girls Tennis season was one of expansion and development. Joyce Higashida, Michele Means, Kathy Johnson and Venita Calvo were returning members of the team. These girls continued to develop their game and were vital assets to the team. Throughout the season, Joyce Higashida played number one and was a threat to our opponents. Unanimously, she was voted Most Valuable Player. As the season progressed, Michele Means became a top contenderin the league. Michele's continuous improvement and spirit gained her the Coaches Award. New team members were Linda Eugenias, Mary Herzberg, Janice Kreigbaum, Barb Lamb, Dawn Mertz, and Debbie Wood. Each girl worked hard on their game and contributed greatly to the team, The 1976 building season will bring a 1977 winning season. Each year girls tennis becomes a bigger and more popular sport at La Sierra due to the combined efforts of the team members, the coaches and the Booster Club.
