ASSISTANTS Being physically fit by joining in varied ex-ercises and participating in various sports will help the girls to perform better in school and to be able to face the future with an assurance of success. The Girls' Physical Education Department may never be asked to put on a display of its physical fitness program but it can boast that it has much prettier members than the Boys' P.E. Department will ever have. 75

The Girls' Physical Education Department is very interested in teaching the femmes of La Sierra the proper forms and techniques of various sports and the policy of good sportsmanship. Our girls brush up on their swimming, and learn how to play and enjoy tennis, golf, volleyball, basketball, baseball, archery and many other fine sports. Modern Dance is also included in the Girls' P. E. Department. This is a class designed to develop poise, good posture, originality, and expression of moods. Physical Education is not only enjoyable but it helps the girls to relax from the pressures of home work and other worries accumulated during other classes. 74

dmveR tRaininq Driver Training is a course which may be taken at the discretion of the student. It consists of a practical experience with a simulated traffic situation. This primary training is followed by actual behind-the-wheel driving. The chief advantage of Driver Training is that students become more careful drivers. An additional advantage is a 15% cut in automobile insurance costs. 76
