Art courses offered at La Sierra provide a broad background in art experience and appreciation for those students who will only take one art course during high school. For students who are interested in art as a career it also presents the necessary fundamentals needed for advanced art classes. The Business Education Department contains many valuable assets and is not only important to those who wish to enter the business world but is also important as a college prep course. The various classes instill in the students the virtues of patience and neatness. Besides those courses which develop mechanical skills, there, are also courses, such as record keeping, typing and general business which have a personal value by themselves in addition to contributing to general vocational understanding and efficiency. Courses such as consumer education and business law possess many social values and are a contribution to the whole field of general education. 65

The Music Department, which consists of Voice Training, Mixed Chorus, A Cappella Choir, Girls’ Glee, Intermediate Band, Concert Band, and the La Sierra Dance Band, is a vital part of our high school. They provide entertainment at rallies, assemblies, dances, games, and many other activities. While participating in these activities students learn dependability and cooperation, not only musically but temperamentally. Also, students are strongly urged to develop their own special talent. 67
