L. to R. Mr. James Brooks, Mr. Everett Headington, Mr. Paul Davis, Mr. Frank Pavan, Mr. Rcnso Del Carlo, and standing: Mr. Neal Rathbone, Department Chairman. Students who do not find satisfaction in academic subjects may find satisfaction in education through an Industrial Arts course. An important purpose of this department is to form good and useful qualities in all of its students. Industrial Arts prepares students for life after their schooling by teaching them to work with people, and in some cases by giving a good background in a field which a student may choose as an occupation.

lnOustRial ARts A basic aim of all courses offered at La Sierra is to teach students to work in a democratic atmos- phere where they may learn how to get along in society. Industrial Arts is an especially good example of this, because every section of Industrial Arts involves working with people. Some of the courses included in this department are: electronics; wood working; metal; mechanical; engineering, and architectural drawing; and auto shops.

home economics Department Chairman Mrs. Marjorie Daughhetee,- Mrs. Janice Holtgrave, Miss Jacquelyn Allen. Home Economics at La Sierra, consists of those courses, activities, and units of instruction which are designed to meet the home—and family—life needs of all students, and the vocational needs of some students. Depending on their particular interests, students may choose either clothing, decorative arts, foods, home living, or home making. But whichever division the student chooses, he is sure not only to learn a great deal about the Home Economics field but also to enjoy the course to a full extent. Home Economics is just one of the examples of the fine educational departments at La Sierra. 64
