concept in that it teaches through a direct method of oral skills. To the students it is known as the language lab, but its offical name is the ALM or Holt method. La Sierra prides itself on being up to date in all of the advanced teaching aids and methods. The language lab is one very good example of modern equipment put to use for the benefit of the student.

The Foreign Language Department of La Sierra High School is considered to be one of the most complete and finest departments of its type in the District. The first objective of modern foreign language teaching is to expose the student to the language as it is spoken. lnOustRial ARts A basic aim of all courses offered at La Sierra is to teach students to work in a democratic atmos- phere where they may learn how to get along in society. Industrial Arts is an especially good example of this, because every section of Industrial Arts involves working with people. Some of the courses included in this department are: electronics; wood working; metal; mechanical; engineering, and architectural drawing; and auto shops.
