The Foreign Language Department of La Sierra High School is considered to be one of the most complete and finest departments of its type in the District. The first objective of modern foreign language teaching is to expose the student to the language as it is spoken. Courses in this department include: World History, United States History, Problems of American Government, Civics, Economics, Sociology, and Geography. The Social Sciences are constantly aware of the need to introduce current international affairs so as to make the student more aware of the present and how it will affect the future. La Sierra prides itself on being up to date in all of the advanced teaching aids and methods. The language lab is one very good example of modern equipment put to use for the benefit of the student.
