Doug Gutnecht VARSity BasketBAll The Longhorn Varsity this year lacked one vital ingredient which makes a team a champion. That ingredient was experi- ence. The team had height, talent and a well-balanced attack, but with only'three Seniors on the team, the missing experience could have made the difference in several close decisions. How- ever, as the season progressed the team showed great improve- ment and finished fast by winning three of their last five C.V.C. games as compared to winning only one of the first five in C.V.C. competition. The closing burst included upsetting Bella Vista and tough Mira Loma as well as a heart-breakingly close 3-point loss to El Camino, the number one rated basketball power in Superior California. According to Coach Jack Heron prospects for the next year's Varsity team are very bright. Paul Turner
