BRIDGE CLUB The newly organized Bridge Club meets every sec- ond and fourth Wednesday of the month. The mem- bers learn all the intricate skills required for playing the game of bridge. CHEMISTRY This year in the Chem- istry Club, the members worked chiefly with ad- vanced experiments and held lectures on various theories. A m o n g the highlights of the year were such things as the preparation of plastic, the preparation of our own brand of bacon-scented” soap for h e - m c n on camping trips, and the preparation of DDT (for use on the same camping trip.) QUILL AND SCROLL Quill and Scroll is an honor society for those outstanding publication staff members who earn the award through scholar- ship, service and journalistic achievements. Mrs. Margaret Young was the sponsor. LINGUA HONORARIA The Lingua Honoraria was a newly-organized honor society for foreign language students. The program of the group was to achieve an understanding of the peoples of other countries through knowledge and appreciation of music, foods, dance, and other arts. HEALTH CAREERS The Health Careers Club this year had speakers from the University of California School of Nursing. The club also visited Sacramento County Health Center and Highlands School of Nurs- ing in Oakland. Many money-raising pro- jects were sponsored to earn money for a scholarship. HOT ROD Under the direction of Mr. Larkin, the Hot Rod Club members worked at build- ing their own cars at their regular meetings on Wednesday after school. A show was planned to display the re- sults of their year's work. The Photography Club took 35 mm. slides of school functions, made a home movie of several after school activities, learned how to develop and print their own pictures, and had discussions to critically analyze the results of their work. It was felt that, through such a procedure, a better under- standing of camera techniques and skills would thus be acquired by all members. The club's advisor was Mr. Nolle. ART CLUB The Art Club, under the direction of Mr. Chambers, held sessions for painting and criticisms of paintings in an effort to improve the members' art work. In addition, the members worked at achieving a better understanding of art and its application to everyday living. Social activities were held within the club's regular meeting time.
