As soon as the teams were chosen for the 1966 flag' ball season, it seemed apparent that two of the teams possessed the greatest potential to take the title. These two squads, the Packers of Lynn Hilde and the Falcons of Roy Lokna, had height and weight adf vantages over the rest of the league. The Packers: Neil Adams, jerry Babcock, Roland Bainer, Art Bradford, Ray Diaz, Tim Doles, Lee Giddings, Rich' ard Harding, Lynn Hilde, captain, and A1 Kreuzer took the championship. downs were produced between the two teams, and extra points were the deciding factors in the final score. After smothering the last place bound Rebels of Tony McCourry, 26f3, the Packers prepared for their big showdown with the only undefeated team in the league, the Falcons of Roy Lokna. The Packers came out on top in the contest but had to struggle to do it as they fought their way to a 12f6 victory. Again the defensive team proved itself almost inf vincible. It may not be tackle football, but things still get a bit rough during flagball game between the Falcons and Rebels. With Hilde and Giddings alternating at quarterback the Packers used an effective runfpass option to good advantage as they started their season on September 29 by defeating a formidable group of old pros, the faculty, 20f12. The next obstacle for the Packers proved to be a big one as they squeaked by the Chargers of Ernie Mc' Dole, 6fO. On October 10 the Trojans of Bill Spears tried to stop the von Hilde Express but came up on the short end of a 26f24 decision. The game proved to be a full color offensive show as eight touch' All the Packers had to do in their final game to cinch the title was gain a tie with Tom Anderson's Titans. That is exactly what they did, but the roof almost caved in on their title hopes when the Titans tied the score at 12f12 with a touchdown and only a couple of minutes left in the game. The extra point try was wide to the right of the goal posts, but Anderson's team got the ball once again with only seconds ref maining. The gun sounded as Lynn Hilde tipped a pass just out of the awaiting hands of Tom Anderson in the end zone. The Titans' scoring attempt thwarted, the title belonged to the Packers.
