DEDICATiaiV The Class of 1951 of La Salle College, rejoicing in the three hundredth anniversary of the birth of St. John Baptist De La Salle, and ever mindful of their indebted- ness to his sons, the Brothers of the Christian Schools, pray God that the influence of the Saint and his disciples may continue to spread and enrich the lives of countless numbers of boys and young men. In grateful appreciation and with a prayer that St. John Baptist De La Salle may ever plead our cause, we reverently dedicate this book to one who has so deservedly been named the patron of all the Christian Teachers of Youth.

For thirty two of the thirty three years that Cardinal Dougherty presided over the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, he served as honorary president of the Board of Trustees. His kindly guidance and sympathetic under- standing were largely instrumental in La Sal- le ' s progress through the years. We shall ever be prayerfully grateful. May the soul of this great Shepherd of Souls rest in eternal peace.
