Doroth- ea Janz, only the third school board secretary in L-P's history, is appointed. 1948: Cavalier cagers are in , Sweet Sixteen under coach Jack Fabri. 1951: Walt Tyler's baseball team is in state meet, a repeat of its 1947 appearance. 1956: The Fabulous Fifties are upon us. There's a lull in L-P enrollment figures ahead of the storm of war-babies to come during the early 60's. 1963: L-P joins NCIC. 1964: A modern gymnasium seating 2,700, a new and enlarged cafeteria and kitchen facili- ties, an extension of the library wing, the addi- tion of classrooms, laboratories and study halls, music rooms, athletic training and equipment l:Y rooms are readied in time for this schoolfyear- L f 911967: L-P becomes the host school for nearly a score of area high schools whose students enroll in vocational courses - the La Salle-Peru Area Vocational Center. 1968: Don Stanton takes L-P cagers to Cham- paign for state tourney. 1969: R. James Risk succeeds Dr. Dolan as superintendent. 1970: The Cavalier basketball team, under Jack Margenthaler, takes crack at state title again. X 1971: Largest L-P freshman class ever -- 605 students - enter high school in August. Dr. Robert D.
