Peru, Illinois - Incorporated T835 Fourth Street looking west from West Street Mayor Robert Potthoff is serving his first term as Mayor of Peru. His work is construction, a recent project was the Peru Bridge. He was a member of the Peru Police Force for five years, he is presently The Assistant Supervisor of Peru Township. He is a member of the Board of the l25th Peru Birthday Celebration. Civic affairs have occupied much of Mayor Potthoff's time and he serves on many committees. . leaders with foresight - the dedication of this volume not to a person, but to many persons - to a community for its place in the history of the La Salle-Peru Township High School - our community - the Tri-Cities, where unlimited opportunity is offered in industry, business, and educational services. Al- es' ways active in civic affairs, Mayor Burke is President of the Progressive Association, has worked with the Red Cross, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and many other organizations.

The date of comple- tion is estimated at l9o2. Pictured is the new La Salle Sewage Treatment Plant which is scheduled to go into opera- tion in l96O. The purpose of the proiect is to control bacteria and thereby clean the river. The new offices of the Illinois Bell Telephone Company, located on Second Street and Hennepin Street, in La Salle, lllinois. -,,..i.. . , -:ff A -all-v, .. .., 5 agar- , 4,,. .I -1 ,-PM -1.- People's Hospital, Peru, has had several new additions in recent years. This West Wing of the hos- pital was added in T955 in- cluding 2O rooms with a 40- bed capacity, laboratory de- partment, oFHce space and main entrance. In l958, the maternity wing was added to the North of the hospital con- taining l2 private rooms and a complete workshop for doctors . People's Hospital employs a total of T27 per- sons. Miss Elizabeth Kidd is Superintendent, Miss Vern Pottinger, Superintendent of Nurses, and Miss Marie Mur- phy, Ofice Manager.
