To commemorate the 50th anniversary of this school, a portrait of Frederick Wllilam Matthiessen was presented to the school by the members ot the Matthiessen family. The portrait is now mounted on the north wall of the Matthiessen Memorial Auditorium, where all may view it and think ot the great contributions this man made toward the development of La Salle- Peru Township High School. What Good is High School? was the subiect under discussion in one of this years assem blues given by the senior class We all discovered a hundred and one new reasons why our high school days should mean very much to us The six seniors selected to take part in the assembly were Margaret Smith Josephine Smania Helen Dougherty Donn Coddlngton Martin Visnikar and Jack Mueller Jeanne Halm vice president of the senior class was the announcer and the program was planned and directed under Mr Trobaugh and Mrs Bugbee S X Page seven
